Aaron Cheruiyot is a Kenyan politician who serves as the senator for Kericho County and the majority leader of the senate. He was elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2022. He is a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Aaron Cheruiyot Early Life and Education
Aaron Cheruiyot was born on February 23, 1986 in Kapchebet village, Kabianga, Kericho County. He is the second born in a family of six children. His father was a tea farmer and his mother was a housewife. He grew up in a humble and religious background, attending the local church and Sunday school.
Aaron Cheruiyot began his education at Unity Primary School, where he excelled in academics and sports. He was the head boy and the captain of the football team. He sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 1999 and scored 427 marks out of 500. He was admitted to Kericho High School, one of the best schools in the region.
At Kericho High School, Aaron Cheruiyot continued to shine in both academics and co-curricular activities. He was the deputy head boy and the chairman of the debating club. He also participated in drama, music, and journalism. He sat for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2003 and scored an A- grade. He was among the top students in his county.
After completing his secondary education, Aaron Cheruiyot joined Moi University in Eldoret, where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Literary Studies.

Aaron Cheruiyot Career
Aaron Cheruiyot began his career as a sales executive at the Radio Africa Group, where he worked from 2008 to 2010. He then ventured into entrepreneurship and founded Africana Savana Tours Safaris, a travel and tourism company. He also established Top Image Cleaning Services and Les 63-restaurant, both located in Nairobi.
Aaron Cheruiyot joined politics in 2016, when he contested for the Kericho County senatorial seat in a by-election. He was nominated by the Jubilee Party, after the former senator Charles Keter was appointed as the cabinet secretary for energy. He faced stiff competition from other candidates, including Paul Sang of the Kenya African National Union (KANU). He emerged victorious with 66% of the votes.
Aaron Cheruiyot was sworn in as the senator for Kericho County on March 16, 2016. He became one of the youngest senators in the country, at the age of 30. He was appointed as a member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget, and the Senate Committee on Energy. He also served as the vice-chairperson of the Senate Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations.
Aaron Cheruiyot was re-elected as the senator for Kericho County in the 2022 general elections. He garnered 87% of the votes, defeating his closest rival, Bernard Ng’eno of the National Super Alliance (NASA).
He was appointed as the majority leader of the senate, succeeding Samuel Poghisio of the Kenya African National Congress (KANC). He also became a member of the Senate Business Committee, the Senate Committee on Rules and Business, and the Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations.
