Dr Muizzu is the current president of the Maldives, a small island nation in the Indian Ocean. He was elected in 2023, after serving as the mayor of Malé, the capital city, and the minister of housing and infrastructure.
Dr Muizzu began his career in the government in 1998 as a trainee at the Ministry of Construction and Public Works. He also worked in the private sector and held key positions in various political parties. Dr Muizzu Early Life and Education
Dr Muizzu was born on 15 June 1978 in Malé, the capital city of the Maldives. He is the son of Shaikh Hussain Abdul Rahman, a former judge, and Husna Adam Ismail Manik, a homemaker. He has two brothers and two sisters.
Dr Muizzu attended Majeediyya School, the oldest school in the Maldives, where he excelled in academics and extracurricular activities.
Dr Muizzu pursued his higher education in the United Kingdom, where he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in structural engineering from the University of London. He was awarded a scholarship by the Maldivian government for his outstanding academic performance.
