Eddy Remedy, also known as Eddy Montana or Edward Ashiedu Brown, is a Nigerian veteran singer and former member of The Remedies, a pioneering Nigerian hip hop music group.

He is also the ex-husband of Kenny Saint Brown, a gospel singer and sister of Kenny Ogungbe, the founder of Kennis Music.

Eddy Remedy recently claimed that his father was among those who wrote the Nigerian national anthem, but never got credit for it.

He also accused his former colleague, Eedris Abdulkareem, of being a liar and a betrayer, and said that he was the one who created The Remedies and their hit song, Shakomo.

Eddy Remedy Early Life and Education

Eddy Remedy was born on August 22, 1977 in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He is the son of Edward Ashiedu Brown, a retired army officer and Margaret Ashiedu Brown, a nurse. He has four siblings: two brothers and two sisters.

Eddy Remedy attended St. Paul’s Primary School and Edokpolor Grammar School in Benin City for his primary and secondary education respectively.

Eddy Remedy moved to Lagos in 1995 to pursue his music career. He enrolled in Yaba College of Technology where he studied Mass Communication. He graduated in 1997 with a Higher National Diploma.

Eddy Remedy Career

Eddy Remedy formed The Remedies in 1997 with Eedris Abdulkareem and Tony Tetuila. The group was signed to Kennis Music, a leading record label in Nigeria at the time. The group released their debut album, Peace Nigeria, in 1998, which featured the hit song, Shakomo. The group was widely regarded as the pioneers of Nigerian hip hop music and enjoyed massive popularity and success.

Eddy Remedy left The Remedies in 1999 after a series of disagreements and conflicts with Abdulkareem. He accused Abdulkareem of being a liar, a betrayer, and a greedy person who wanted to take all the credit and money for the group’s achievements. He also claimed that he was the one who created The Remedies and their hit song, Shakomo.

Eddy Remedy launched his solo career in 2000 and released his debut album, Eddy na Eddy, under Kennis Music in 2002. The album featured popular tracks such as Wa gba Control and Aye mi Temi. The album was well received by fans and critics and earned him several nominations and awards, including the Best Male Vocalist at the 2003 Nigerian Music Awards.
