He was also the treasurer of Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc., the corporate social responsibility arm of the group.

Bautista became the president and chief operating officer of Philippine Airlines (PAL) in 2004. He was the first non-family member to hold the top position in the airline, which was previously owned by the government but later privatized by the Lucio Tan Group.

Bautista retired from PAL for the first time in 2012, after leading the airline for eight years.
