Leslie Tamakloe is a Ghanaian businessman and entrepreneur who has interests in ICT, energy, and infrastructure. He is the Chairman of the Beneficial Ownership Disclosure (BOD), a body that seeks to promote transparency and accountability in the extractive sector.

He is also a politician who is being considered as a possible running mate for John Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2024 general elections.

He is from the Volta Region and is the son of the late Togbui Nyaho Tamakloe IV, a traditional ruler of Whuti and Anlo.

Leslie Tamakloe was born on April 18, 1957, in Whuti, a town in the Volta Region of Ghana. He is the son of the late Togbui Nyaho Tamakloe IV, who was the Dufia of Whuti and Miafiaga of Anlo, and Madam Victoria Ameyo Agbanyo.

He attended Mawuli School, a prestigious secondary school in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region, from 1970 to 1975 for his GCE O’ level Certificate and then from 1975 to 1977 for his GCE A’ level.

After completing his secondary education, Leslie Tamakloe enrolled at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), one of the leading universities in Ghana, located in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. He studied Environmental Design from 1977 to 1980 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He then pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture from 1980 to 1983, also at KNUST.

Leslie Tamakloe did not stop his academic pursuit after obtaining his diploma. He later attended the University of Ghana Business School, another reputable institution in Accra, the capital of Ghana, from 2007 to 2008.

He earned an Executive MBA in Entrepreneurial Management, a program that equips students with the skills and knowledge to start and manage their own businesses. Leslie Tamakloe is a major advocate of science and technology, with interests that include, but are not limited to, computers, renewable energy, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), rockets, and space travel.

He is also a potential running mate for John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2024 general elections. Leslie Tamakloe has a remarkable career that showcases his skills, achievements, and contributions to the development of Ghana and Africa.

Leslie Tamakloe started his career as an architect, after obtaining his postgraduate diploma from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1983. He worked as a consultant for various projects, such as the design and construction of the Ghana National Mosque, the renovation of the State House, and the development of the Accra Sports Stadium. He also designed and built several residential and commercial buildings across the country.

Leslie Tamakloe later ventured into the telecommunications industry, where he demonstrated his expertise in the equipment, technologies, and protocols used in data and network systems.

He is conversant with the setting up of local area networks (LAN), metropolitan area networks (MAN), and wide area networks (WAN) using digital technologies, including cable media, wireless digital technologies, and fiber solutions. He has also been involved in the installation and maintenance of satellite communication systems, microwave links, and radio frequency systems.
