Earlier, in November, Mr. Ibu’s family disclosed that he had undergone seven surgeries, with one leg amputated in a bid to prolong his life. The family remained hopeful, stating that the actor had successfully undergone five surgeries and was scheduled for further treatment abroad.

In December 2023, it was reported that Mr. Ibu underwent another leg amputation, rendering him barely able to communicate, according to statements from the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

The unexpected death of Mr. Ibu at the age of 62, following a cardiac arrest on a Saturday, deeply saddened the entertainment industry and left fans mourning the loss of a cherished icon.
