Faith Odhiambo is the newly elected president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), a professional body that represents lawyers in Kenya. She is also a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, a partner at Ombok and Owuor LLP Advocates, and a former board secretary of the Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya (FIDA-Kenya).

She has a keen interest in competition law, consumer protection law, telecommunications law, banking law, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.

She is the second female president of the LSK, after Raychelle Omamo, who served from 2001 to 2003.

Faith Odhiambo was born in Kisumu, Kenya, to a lecturer father and a nurse mother. She grew up in a family of four siblings, two brothers and two sisters. She attended Homa Bay Primary School, where she excelled in academics and extracurricular activities. She developed a passion for reading and writing from an early age, and was inspired by her father’s library of books.

She proceeded to St. Francis Girls Secondary School in Mombasa, where she continued to shine as a student leader and a debater. She was elected as the school captain and the chairperson of the debating club. She also participated in various competitions and events, such as drama, music, and sports. She was awarded several prizes and certificates for her outstanding performance and achievements.

She joined the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, where she pursued a Bachelor of Laws degree. She graduated with honors in 1998, and was among the top students in her class.

She enrolled at the Kenya School of Law, where she obtained a Diploma in Law in 1999. Odhiambo began her legal career as an associate at Ombok and Owuor LLP Advocates, a Nairobi-based law firm, after graduating from the Kenya School of Law and being admitted to the bar as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 2000. She specialized in litigation, corporate and commercial law, telecommunications law, and competition law.

She rose through the ranks to become a partner in 2005. She is still a partner at the firm, where she handles complex and high-profile cases for various clients, including corporations, government agencies, and individuals.

Odhiambo also served as a board secretary of the Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya (FIDA-Kenya), a non-governmental organization that promotes women’s rights and access to justice.

She also became a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators-UK (MCIarb), a professional body that promotes and facilitates alternative dispute resolution. She returned to Kenya and resumed her practice at Ombok and Owuor LLP Advocates, where she expanded her areas of expertise to include banking law, financial services, mediation, and arbitration.
