Teboho Joala was born on March 16, 1973 in Pretoria, South Africa. He earned a national diploma in Accounting from the Tshwane University of Technology.

He also obtained various business-related qualifications from prestigious business schools, such as the Columbia Business School, the University of Manchester, the University of Cumbria, the University of Salford, and the York St. John University.

Cause Of Death and Funeral

Teboho Joala’s death and funeral were tragic and shocking events that shook the nation. On Monday, January 29, 2024, Teboho Joala was attending a community function in Zakariyya Park, south of Johannesburg. He was involved in a school material donation programme for primary school pupils.

-An unidentified gunman entered the hall where the function was taking place, walked up to Joala, and shot him several times in the chest and head. Joala’s bodyguard was also killed in the shooting. The attack happened in full view of over 70 children and teachers who witnessed the horror.

The gunman then fled the scene in a getaway car with an accomplice. No arrests have been made so far, and the motive for the killing remains unclea.

Eyewitness News reported that Joala had been receiving death threats for some time before his murder. He was provided with a bodyguard following the threats, but his protector was also killed during the shooting. Speculation is rife that the murder was a hit organised by persons who were disgruntled about tenders at Rand Water.

His funeral service was held in Pretoria on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Hundreds of mourners attended the service, including Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai, ANC Gauteng chairperson David Makhura, and ANC Tshwane regional chairperson Kgosi Maepa. They paid tribute to Joala’s life and legacy, and condemned his killing as a declaration of war.
